I was procrastinating this evening, randomly surfing websites, and a I saw a post on Livejournal’s novice_knitters community re: socks. I was reminded that I had started such a project back in *cough*april*cough*, and still hadn’t completed my first sock.

I’m working on remedying that fact right now.I need a break from sequins and shrink plastic….

(although when I turned the heel, I didn’t do it right, but I don’t care because it will still be My First Sock Evah!)

… is slow going at the moment.

I’m working on an essay for university, plus preliminary research etc for my dissertation as we have to submit topic choices next week. *scared*.

In crafty news, I started working on some wire jewellery that crafts beautiful magazine claims is “surprisingly easy to master”. Well I’m sure it is, if you’re not completely incompetent which it appears I actually am. Part of it is due to not having the right tools, I think. But as someone who’s training to be an occupational therapist, the lack of inherent ability to do this (within myself) is, frankly, embarrassing. Not that I’m assuming it’s a talent thing and that natural ability is required, but there seems to be an assumption within my (non o.t. student) friends that we’re good at random crafty things. I’m not. I can follow tutorials and veer off occasionally, but craft related spontanaeity actually takes a lot of practice for me!

Progress on the Rocky Horror swap is going ok. I’ve finished one item which took a ridiculously long amount of time, and I’ve started another. I may actually be able to send this early, woo! That of course, is the intention due to the amount of uni work I have still to do.

Agh, it’s a hard life sometimes ;P

I thought my days of sequinning stuff were over long ago, lol.

In other news, I spent £30 in Hobbycraft today. Only the glue and sequins were for the swap. OOps….

Not much going on on the crafty front at the moment. I’m currently working on some ideas for a Rocky Horror swap at Craftster, which I’m really excited about. I’ve had a rough week or so on a personal front and so I’m spending some time looking after myself as well.

I’ve become stuck in a little rut of late, and have subsequently sat around moping for most of this week. This is not good for my motivation or my productivity in any way, shape or form. If I had taken time away for doing uni work, it wouldn’t seem quite so bad, but I didn’t. I’ve done naff all.

I’m a student occupational therapist (at least that’s what my name badge says) about to go into my final year. I still have work to do from year 2, and I’m seriously slacking. I have a LOT of work still to do.
I like my course, it gives me chance to try lots of different things- it’s partly why I took up crafting again – and I wish I could find proper balance between uni and my life. One or the other ends up constantly being neglected.

I don’t know why I’m waffling about this here, but I just felt like it. I’ve signed up for another Craftster swap this week, and I have loads of ideas already (despite not actually having a partner yet, lol) – I hope this will get me motivated again.

I have a photo to upload of the sampler thingy. I did try and do it this morning then I realised the picture wasn’t of great quality due to the lighting. I’ll be taking another one later on (or maybe tomorrow) and hopefully I can show off my lovely but slightly wonky stitching.

I started another one last night- very freeform and with no idea where it’ll take me. It’s something to while away these rainy days though…

Also, I’m working on the layout. Hence why it keeps changing. I can’t find something that “fits”. I might just stick with a default template for now, and try and get more content. It’s an error I make every time with a website/blog- focus on the pretty rather than content. Hopefully I can stop myself doing that this time though.
